Thanks for Visiting!

Hyannis Supporting Our Youth, Inc. (HySOY) was birthed from the Greater Hyannis Civic Association's Voices of the Village meeting in April 2011. With an active core membership, and many others willing to provide mentoring, the group is diverse in its strengths. Members include former or current educators and principals, pastors, business people, parents and grandparents. Each member has committed to supporting Hyannis youth through both existing programs and through the creation of new initiatives. Members work on Mentoring, Early Literacy Initiatives and Childhood Enrichment Opportunities to support our youth. We currently meet the first Tuesday of every month at 530pm at Faith Assembly of God (154 Bearse's Way) and new members and interested parties are always welcome. Please contact Sue Cwynar, director, at hysoytaskforce@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer.

HySOY Volunteer Opportunities

A variety of opportunities exist to help support youth in the Hyannis community:

HySOY is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Any donations are tax-deductible.

Mentoring
A dedicated relationship between a caring adult and child at Hyannis West Elementary School. A minimum one-year commitment is necessary for this program. Mentors participate in an information session, introductory training and continuing education throughout the school year. A one hour per week commitment from September-June is necessary with before, during and after school hours available. Please email Amy Mesirow, Mentor Coordinator, at hysoymentor@hotmail.com for more information.

Early Literacy Initiative:
Provides new or like-new books for children aged 5-10. Volunteers will provide books to students at Hyannis West Elementary School. Donations are always welcome. We are also looking for volunteers to sort books and become guest readers in elementary classrooms. Contact Pat Cassidy, Early Literacy Initiative Coordinator, at pqcass@aol.com to make a donation.

Sponsorships:
Provides full and partial sponsorships for youth to take part in extracurricular activities. Organizations can donate a space for a child at their camp program, music, sports or art activity. Individuals and business can sponsor a child to participate in an extracurricular activity. We have sponsorship opportunities ranging from $25-$700 depending on the length and type of program in which the child is participating. Contact hysoytaskforce@gmail.com if interested in being a corporate or individual sponsor.
