Thanks for Visiting!

Hyannis Supporting Our Youth, Inc. (HySOY) was birthed from the Greater Hyannis Civic Association's Voices of the Village meeting in April 2011. With an active core membership, and many others willing to provide mentoring, the group is diverse in its strengths. Members include former or current educators and principals, pastors, business people, parents and grandparents. Each member has committed to supporting Hyannis youth through both existing programs and through the creation of new initiatives. Members work on Mentoring, Early Literacy Initiatives and Childhood Enrichment Opportunities to support our youth. We currently meet the first Tuesday of every month at 530pm at Faith Assembly of God (154 Bearse's Way) and new members and interested parties are always welcome. Please contact Sue Cwynar, director, at hysoytaskforce@gmail.com for more information or to volunteer.

HySOY and Hyannis Public Library Fundraiser

The Hyannis Public Library and Hyannis Supporting Our Youth, Inc. are sponsoring a Tour of Barnstable Bed & Breakfast Inns called "Tulips, Treats, and Tours" on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 12 noon to 4 p. m. Tickets are $25 per person and are on sale at the Hyannis Public Library.

The custom of opening one's home to travelers dates back to the earliest days of Colonial America, when wayfarers relied on the kindness of strangers to provide a bed for the night. Join us as we explore old-fashioned Cape Cod hospitality offered to visitors in the 21st Century while raising much needed funds for our community.

This benefit circuit features six acclaimed Bed & Breakfast Inns located in the Town of Barnstable. You’ll be warmly greeted by the Innkeepers, served tasty delicacies, and be entered for drawings of gifts guaranteed to delight you:

Hyannis

Cape Cod Ocean Manor overlooks a spectacular salt water marsh and is just across the street from Veteran’s Park and Beach, and a five-minute walk to Kalmus Beach. Nature lovers will take pleasure in the spectacular view of Nantucket Sound, and birders will enjoy spotting the many species of protected birds that live in the natural grasslands. Manor guests may choose from the activities offered at nearby Hyannis Harbor, Downtown Hyannis, or simply relax on the spacious deck.

Hillcrest Bed and Breakfast is a charming New England residence dating back to 1899 and offers you the exceptional amenities all discerning travelers appreciate. Within walking distance are the ferries to the islands, and several warm, sandy beaches. Guests can stroll Main Street, visit restaurants, museums and memorials, get a peek at the famed Kennedy Compound in neighboring Hyannis Port.

Simmons Homestead Inn truly reflects the spirit of old Cape Cod. It was built in 1800 by Lemuel Simmons, a somewhat famous old sea captain and was a private estate until 1988. A dog-friendly inn, Simmons Homestead provides all sorts of maps to great beaches, ponds and walking trails that your pup will enjoy -- even during the summer – and a listing of restaurants with outside seating that will allow dogs. Are you a motorhead? The Toad Hall Classic Sports Car Collection is part of the Inn and is the largest on the East Coast.

Centerville

Circa 1849, Long Dell Inn is a fully restored sea captain's home featuring guest rooms decorated in classic New England style with antiques, comfortable chairs and four poster beds. Centerville is a quiet seaside town with a lovely Main Street bursting with the special Cape Cod ambiance you are seeking. The Centerville General Store, Four Seas Ice Cream Shoppe, and beautiful Covell and Craigville Beaches are short walks away.

West Barnstable

Honeysuckle Hill Inn, circa 1810, a romantic Cape Cod B & B that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is tucked in along the former stagecoach path known as “Old King’s Highway.” A traditional New England B & B with wide-planked floors, ship’s captain’s staircase, eccentric ceiling angles, curving hallways and an inviting wraparound front porch, the Inn is less than two miles from Sandy Neck Beach.

Barnstable, Massachusetts

The Lamb & Lion Inn features rooms with wood-burning fireplaces, suites with kitchenettes, a circa 1700’s converted horse stable, 1740's barn, and is praised as one of the most pet-friendly properties in the United States. Dog-friendly conservation trails and a beautiful beach are within walking distance. The Inn also provides guests with self-guided tours to find the Cape's best bike paths, beaches, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. Innkeepers Tom and Ali offer outstanding quality and sense of place in one of most historic villages in the United States.

Do not miss this opportunity to experience the distinctive character of Cape Cod by visiting these excellent Bed & Breakfast Inns and to support The Hyannis Public Library and Hyannis Supporting Our Youth, Inc. as well. For further information call the library at 508-775-2280.
